Miranda's 1st VM Blog in the history of ever.

Welcome to Miranda’s Lounge where all her piles of papers, stacks of media and miles of files do not exist. This is her literary wonderland where refuge from mundane office duties comes by way of creative word play and serial photographic adventures.

Since this is the first of these entries, I will begin with a brief introduction to get things rolling.

I want to premise by saying that it was a long held dream to work in an environment where I felt at ease being myself, somewhere I know I’m accepted for who I am. (A restless tattooed roller skater with a loud laugh and slightly inappropriate humor.) It is this part of my job I cherish more than any other. Each day brings both comfort and challenge as my exact job title has always been murky at best, at least to me. On any given day I will juggle everything from managing finances, travel arrangements, tracking A/R & A/P to video editing, writing ad copy and performing old Joan Jett songs. I’ve come to learn the infinite minute details that demand care and attention in order to run a successful video production company. It's definitely hard work but, aside from the endless open road, I'd rather not be anywhere else.

Video Media: We are comprised of a few key players in a greater web of talented individuals who without, we’d be much the lesser. At the heart of this close-nit team is the man who, over a decade ago, retired his Rock-N-Roll drumsticks in pursuit of a new venture involving digital media. I call him Bossman, although he much prefers Dan. I've never met anyone who works harder than this man. He keeps me constantly on my toes. Constantly being the operative word. At times I wish he weren't so humble so I can hear more wild stories about his days as a rock n roll stud touring the world doing what he loved. He manifested a dream so few ever realize and I can't help but deeply admire his courage to live and be his creative passion.

My days at the office would not be the same without Rick. I must admit that when our worlds collided, we were hardly two peas on in a pod.  In fact I highly doubt two random people thrown into one room can be more energetically polar. I’m definitely the pirate and well, he's so very not. Getting to know each other was very, let's say, interesting. However, nearly three years later, I can easily say that without Rick around, my VM world would be lacking something very special. Last week he was out of the office, and instead of tapping the keg, I actually missed him. Eew.

So that’s all I have to say at the moment. I need to get accustomed to this writing thing. I’ve never been much of a diary keeper, so these posts may be few and far between until I habituate the process. They may also be random and raucous until I discover my theme, if that ever happens.

Until the next.
